2003 results: turnover comes in at EUR 12 Mio., up 25%
Transics, the European market leader in on-board computers and telematics solutions for commercial vehicles, achieved a 25 % year-on-year increase in turnover in 2003, compared to the previous year 2002. In spite of the current economic slowdown, the group can look back on a successful 2003.
Transics confirms its leadership position in the European market
Transics continues to grow, both on the national and international markets. In Belgium, where Transics has been active for quite some years now, the company has succeeded in strengthening its already strong market position. "Now that we have equipped our on-board computers with GPRS communications technology, many existing customers decided to replace or upgrade their on-board computers to the new standards. In addition, we were also able to win new customers, who used to work with on-board computers from our competitors", said Walter Mastelinck, managing director of Transics.
In addition to several orders from small and medium-sized French transport companies, one order stood out on the French market during 2003: an order worth EUR 2 Mio. for the installation of Transics on-board computers in over 900 trucks owned by the French S.T.G. transport group, specializing in refrigerator transportation. "STG opted for the Transics' solution after an in-depth study of all the European suppliers of telematics solutions. The choice of this renowned transport company (which has the largest Volvo fleet in Europe) confirms Transics' technological and operational leadership position in comparison with the other telematics suppliers", pointed out Walter Mastelinck.
In Spain and Sweden too, Transics has achieved impressive growth. 400 Quattro on-board computers were marketed to several medium-sized Spanish transport companies. In Sweden, Transics entered into an agreement with Akkafrakt, Sweden's leading transport cooperative company, with a fleet of over 300 vehicles.
An 25 % increase
Transics rounded off 2003 with a growth figure of 25 % while maintaining its profit margin, a turnover amounting to EUR 12 Mio., and a positive EBIDA of EUR 1.3 Mio. "We have succeeded in surviving this harsh economical situation thanks to rigid cost control, which did not in the least hamper our R&D efforts - which are essential for our future ", said Ludwig Lemenu, managing director of Transics, "With the proven stability of the GPRS network, an increasingly mature market, its professional organization and its state-of-the-art products, Transics is, more than ever, ready to strengthen its market leadership position in Europe."
For 2004, Transics expects a rise in turnover of 20 % and a positive cash flow of EUR 1 Mio.
