Further enchancement of Europe's most popular Windows CE on board computer
Transics, a leading provider and developer of on-board computers and telematics solutions for the transport and logistics sector, proudly launches the Quattro Plus. The Quattro Plus on-board computer is the technologically more advanced brother of the Quattro, a highly developed on-board computer with over 10,000 installed units worldwide.
More add-on options and a colour display
When developing its Quattro Plus, Transics benefited from the experience gained with its forerunner, the Quattro. Thanks to the platform’s open standards, Transics was able to maintain the basic software, simply adding new applications and extensibility (a faster processor, more internal memory, double PCMCIA slots and more extension ports). Because Transics opted for Windows CE as the operating system for the Quattro, five years ago, all the software that has been developed since then, for the Quattro, is 100% compatible for the Quattro Plus, which significantly enhances the stability of the total solution. Due to the increased capacity of the Quattro Plus platform, more powerful applications could be added.
After rigorous testing, Transics finally opted for a high-quality colour display that is clearly readable under all conditions and customized to both the vehicle and the driver’s working environment (different light intensities, extreme temperatures, side angle,…).
As Transics had received very positive feedback from the market on Quattro’s user interface (with, among other things, function buttons on both sides of the display), the company decided to retain that interface. Also the ergonomically designed layout remains unchanged.
New applications, such as Last Mile Navigation and Geofencing
The operationally stable software for communication, vehicle positioning, real-time service time follow-up and sending and follow-up of missions was extended with a number of new functionalities, such as 'last mile navigation'. This useful function enables the driver to guide his/her vehicle to its destination by means of digital maps on his/herdisplay. In addition, the extensive 'GeoFencing' functionality informs the dispatcher, among other things, about when a vehicle is approaching one or more reference points, about activities in certain regions or about not leaving a region on time. The intelligence needed for that is held on the on-board computer, so that superfluous communication is avoided.
Just like all Transics on-board computers, the Quattro Plus is equipped with a GPRS modem. Transics is an acknowledged leader in European GPRS communications for trucks, with an installed base of thousands of on-board computers communicating in this way. The Quattro and Quattro Plus can, of course, be used in combination right across the vehicle fleet, without needing to adapt the home base in any way.
"Transics has consolidated its position as a market leader and continues to invest in its technological progress. Over the last few years, the company has invested heavily in extending its systems with GPRS communications. By launching the Quattro Plus, which is available as from today, Transics proves that it is leading the way within its sector. Moreover, with its 90 employees, Transics is the largest team in Europe dedicated to on-board computers and accompanying software”, said Walter Mastelinck, Managing Director Transics NV.
Transics NV develops and commercializes on-board computers and telematics solutions for the transport and logistics sector. Transics NV employs over 90 people and is the largest company in its sector. Headquartered in Ypres (Belgium), Transics NV has offices in the Netherlands and France and is also active in Germany, Sweden, and Spain. The company is permanently expanding its European organization.
