Extensive fleet management functionality linked to GPRS communications technology
Transics, the European market leader in on-board computers and fleet management solutions for commercial vehicles, launches Laura Plus on the occasion of PROlogistics 2004.
The ongoing development of an existing, best-selling and reliable product Laura Plus is nothing but a logical next version of Transics’ on-board computer Laura which has, with an existing customer base of over 9.000 installed units throughout Europe, already proven its market worth. This latest version allows the use of new, more economical means of communications, such as GPRS, thereby ensuring more reliable communications that are available throughout Europe. Laura Plus provides the following functional features: exchange of text, through GPRS, between the dispatcher and the drivers, vehicle positioning, real-time service time follow-up, sending and follow-up of missions, etc., … The hosting can be located at Transics’ offices or, alternatively, the database and applications can be installed at the customer’s premises.
More dependable and cost-effective communications, with no restrictions whatsoever The advantages of Laura Plus linked to GPRS communications are numerous: the users are always connected; operating costs are lower when compared to GSM-data or GSM-SMS communications; and, in addition, there is also the possibility to send larger volumes of digital information. The GSM-data and the GSM-SMS communications, however, remain important as a back-up for GPRS technology as the customer has to be confident, at all times, that his message has been sent and has arrived safely. "Laura Plus, which originated from our existing, highly successful, and reliable Laura product, provides the same functionality like Laura but, in addition, it also offers cutting-edge GPRS communications technology. Just like any other Transics product, Laura Plus is the ideal tool to increase profitability and reduce operating costs. Laura Plus will be available from 1st March 2004 onwards.”, Walter Mastelinck, managing director of Transics, concluded.
