New sales milestone consolidates Transics' position as a market leader
Transics, the European market leader in on-board computers and telematics solutions for commercial vehicles, handed its 25.000th on-board computer over to the Belgian, Saintes-based Van Mieghem Logistics company, on the occasion of Trailer 2005. The new sales milestone not only confirms Transics' position as a market leader but also sets the stage for further expansion into the European market.
Van Mieghem Logistics receives 25.000th on-board computer
In the presence of the trade press, Mr. Walter Mastelinck, Managing Director of Transics, gladly handed over Transics' 25,000th on-board computer to Mr Luc Van Mieghem, Managing Director of Van Mieghem Logistics, on Friday, the 25th of November 2005. The event took place on the occasion of Trailer 2005, the international trade fair for road haulage organized in Kortrijk (Belgium) from the 25 th to the 29 th of November.
Van Mieghem Logistics, member of the European Astre transport group, specializes in logistics and in the transport of goods throughout Europe. All its international vehicles have been equipped with a Transics on-board computer that forwards information to the dispatcher's office by GPRS. “Thanks to the real-time overview of our fleet provided by the Transics computer, we save a great deal on operational costs, such as communications and lost kilometres. Moreover, the fleet management system also enables us to increase our level of service to our customers”, explained Luc Van Mieghem.
Growth opportunities
Walter Mastelinck: “Over 5.3 million trucks (>3.5t) roam the European roads every day. Studies have revealed that only around 120.000 of those vehicles are equipped with a fleet management system, or an on-board computer, as the device is still called. Transics has an installed base of 25.000 fleet management systems. This extensive number confirms our position as a market leader. Better still, it proves that we have not yet reached the end of our growth curve.
Transics aims to further its growth in the following years by expanding its reach across Europe. The company has been very successful in the Benelux and French markets for years. Apart from that, the Spanish and German markets are currently experiencing strong growth. In addition, Transics is determined, in the near future, to pay greater attention to transport markets and regions in the new Europe.
Transics NV develops and commercializes on-board computers and telematics solutions for commercial vehicles in the transport and logistics sector. With an installed base of over 25.000 on-board computers, Transics NV is the largest company in its sector. Headquartered in Ypres (Belgium), Transics NV has offices in the Netherlands and France and is also active in Germany, Sweden, and Spain. The company is permanently expanding its European organization.
