Transics passes the 40.000-units-installed mark

New contracts in Germany and central Europe and first-ever order in Ireland validate Transics' growth strategy

Transics, one of the leading European players in onboard computers and fleet management solutions, continues its international expansion. The company recently had its 40,000th onboard computer installed at the German transport company Paul Guse. In addition to winning new contracts in Germany, Transics is also coming on strongly in central Europe. Recently Transics has won 14 new contracts for more than 800 onboard computers in Germany, central Europe and the Republic of Ireland, generating a turnover of over 2 million euros. These successes confirm that Transics’ growth strategy, which is based on a geographic expansion and a direct sales model, is paying off.

Important new German successes

Transics has won a number of landmark deals in Germany. Recently several transport companies opted for the Transics solution, including Paul Guse (110 trucks), Horst Pöppel, Paul Link, Jung & Leyener and Leo König. “The decision to work with Transics resulted from a successful pilot project, during which Transics distinguished itself from local suppliers by the quality of its solution, the broad set of functionalities and the integration possibilities with our back-office applications. Also, the professional support offered by the local sales and consultancy team was a decisive factor for us”, said Marc Guse, General Manager of Paul Guse.

Success in central Europe translated in 8 new contracts

The same trend is observed in central Europe, where demand for a high-end fleet management system with a broad range of functionalities is proving to be as important as in Transics’ core markets. In mid-2006 Transics established its first limited commercial presence in central Europe. So far this year, Transics has already won orders from 8 major transport companies in the region representing, between them, 440 trucks: CTK, Nowakowski, Chwilkowscy and ITG in Poland; CSAD Uherske Hradiste and JH Trans in the Czech Republic and Papo in Slovakia.

Transics has closed its first deal in Slovenia too: Resped decided to equip 30 of its vehicles with Transics onboard computers. “After field-testing several other systems, we have chosen the Transics system. Only Transics could offer us a high-end solution, which is reliable, open and able to meet our future needs,” explained Jernej Rehar, Transport Manager at Resped.

Most of them went for Transics’ complete solution, including navigation, fuel consumption control via a CAN Bus interface and the Digitach Card Reader, allowing a remote readout of the tacho driver card data.

First-ever Irish customer

Another new market is Ireland, where Breen International Logistics, with a fleet of 70 trucks, recently decided to replace its low-end fleet management system by the Transics solution, thus becoming Transics’ first Irish customer. Andrew and Gerard Breen, managers of Breen International Logistics: “Our existing fleet management system was too limited to meet our current needs. Warm recommendations, given to us by fellow transport companies, led us to Transics.”

Breen wishes to stand out from the rest with unequalled customer-centric service and flexibility. The Transics fleet management system allows them to make maximum use of their fleet; each vehicle can be followed 24/7 and time and money can be saved. Breen also adds: “We are the first Irish company to use Transics’ products; in other words, we are a big step ahead of our local competition.”

Successful organic growth strategy

“These new contracts in central Europe and Ireland prove that our growth strategy, based on the deployment of our own sales and customer support infrastructure in new territories, is working. We built our own organisation from scratch in central Europe, creating local sales and consultancy teams and today, barely one year later, Transics has become the reference beacon in this region. Experience tells us that word-of-mouth and good reputation play a crucial role in the sales process as well,” concluded Walter Mastelinck, CEO of Transics.

Transics International develops and commercializes onboard fleet management systems (onboard computers, software and services) for the transport and logistics sector. With an installed base of over 40,000 onboard computers, Transics is one of the leading European players in its sector. Headquartered in Ypres (Belgium), Transics has regional offices in the Netherlands, France, Germany and Spain, is active in Scandinavia and is permanently expanding its European organisation. In 2006, Transics began a strategy to gain a foothold in central Europe. At the start of 2007, the company acquired sector partner DIS, a specialist in IT solutions for driving time registration based on tachographs. With this takeover, Transics is again extending its product offering.
