The French transport company and Transics’ client, Mousset Group, has tested the TX-MAX on-board computer that is integrated with the new Transics’ TX-ECO programme. This ecological function is a product by Transics and KDC (Key Driving Competences). It uses the data concerning the routes and the drivers’ driving style to allow ecological behaviour. Thanks to this new functionality, the Mousset Group has reduced its fuel consumption by 8% per month and per vehicle. Equally, CO2 emissions have been reduced by 8%.
The TX-ECO programme is the result of intensive research by Transics and its partner KDC, an institute for trainings on driving style analysis. Objective: the development of a tool capable of helping drivers steer in a more ecological and safer way. Based on the data from the Transics’ fleet management applications, such as info related to trips and technical CAN Bus data (RPM, speed, fuel consumption, etc.), KDC makes an individual analysis of the drivers’ driving style. This analysis allows the creation of a specific, customized training programme, which results in constant follow-up of the quality of the driving performances. All this information is provided by automatical reports.
The thing that makes this programme unique is its total approach. In contrast to most driving trainings which are too rational or punctual and therefore little efficient, TX-ECO foresees continuous follow-up. The Transics solution is based on a KDC coaching training as well as on regular and personalised monitoring of each driver. ”This training process is necessary, since experience has shown that the majority of drivers are willing to and capable of applying the ECO driving principles, but, after a few months, slowly start to pick up their old habits again“, explains Walter Mastelinck, Transics’ CEO. The Mousset Group has equipped its fleet with TX-ECO by connecting an additional processor to the TX-MAX on board computers. The new function has been installed on a part of the fleet since June 2009. 25 trucks in total were equipped with this extra module. 50 drivers have received an efficient and tailored training, provided by Key Driving Competences.
”We say it, we do it, that’s our golden rule”, explains Yannis Mollé, Responsible of On-board Informatics at Mousset Group. “Quality, customer service and security throughout our activities are priorities issued by the management. The Transics’ fleet management solution helps us to achieve these objectives. With the TX-ECO solution, we improve our security as well. For years, it has been the favourite feature of the Mousset Group. Furthermore, our fuel costs have been reduced by 8% per month, per vehicle. At least, we drive more ecologically.” The advantages for Mousset concerning safety and maintenance costs have not yet been quantified, but a survey, executed in the Netherlands by Senter Novem during 5 years, has revealed a 3.5%-reduction of maintenance costs and a 14.5%-reduction of costs related to road accidents.
Transics also launches the TX-ECO ASSISTANT during the Solutrans (Lyon, 2-6/03) and SITL (Paris, 23-26/03) fairs. Integrated in the TX-MAX on-board computer, this functionality helps drivers to evaluate and improve their own driving style. During their daily trips, they receive instructions. It also proves that Transics is a master in ecological and therefore economical driving. ”Transics has taken on an ecological mission: helping transport companies work in a more environmental-friendly way, thus more profitable. We are convinced that economy and ecology go hand in hand. With the unique TX-ECO concept, we put our fleet management applications in service of a qualitative and durable driving style and guarantee improved road safety. We are convinced that the future of road transport lies in those fields”, concludes Walter Mastelinck, Transics’ CEO.
