Estron Group (NL) equips its fleet with Transics’ trailer tracers

Insight into real-time trailer position ensures an accurate and flexible planning, while enhancing customer services

Besides its on-board computers and related back office software, also the trailer tracers of telematics leader Transics International easily find their way to European carriers. After an extensive screening, the Dutch Estron Group decided to equip all its trailers with Transics’ TX-MAGELLAN TRACE solutions. The initial results are exceeding all expectations. “We couldn’t have imagined how quiet it would be, here in the office. Everyone is working much more effectively now,” said Rene Hoogvliet, ICT Manager at Estron.

Estron Group operates a fleet of 160 trucks and 215 trailers, which are used for transport throughout Europe. To retain an edge over its competitors, the group is constantly looking for new ways to raise efficiency and customer services. After thoroughly screening trailer tracers from four different suppliers, it chose TX-MAGELLAN TRACE, Transics’ autonomous tracer, to gain real-time insight into the position of its trailers.

Great value for money, robustness and experience

Estron decided to install the TX-MAGELLAN TRACE on account of its great value for money, its robustness, the anti-theft system and the user-friendly interface, not to mention the substantial experience of market leader Transics. For the time being, 40 trailers are fitted with a trailer. The solution will be integrated into the remaining 175 trailers soon. On top of that, each tracer will be seamlessly integrated with the TMS system.

Insight into the real-time status, for ultimate peace of mind

In the past, Estron had had difficulty knowing the exact location of all the different loads. Thanks to TX-MAGELLAN TRACE, freight planners in the back office now automatically receive an update of the trailers’ precise position every 5 minutes. In this way, they can perfectly pinpoint the real-time location and status of their fleet, thus helping them optimise fleet deployment. If an ad hoc order comes in, it is easy to find a truck / trailer available to pick up the load, in no time. Customers who want to know where their cargo is, are served instantly. “Right now, they still have to contact the office to get the current status, but Transics is working on an interface between its TX-MAGELLAN TRACE and the TMS system. Once both solutions are coupled, the customer will be able to monitor his cargo himself, online,” said Rene Hoogvliet. “When a trailer is stolen, we can keep following the trailer, so that the emergency services can quickly locate it. That saves us lots of time and money.”

“In short, TX-MAGELLAN TRACE will significantly lower the stress level,” Hoogvliet concluded. “Our planners will work more peacefully and more productively at the same time, as time will be freed up for other jobs. We are confident this solution will exceed our expectations.”
