Leading Irish logistics and distribution company Dixon Transport International has chosen to equip its entire fleet of 140 trucks with Transics’ TX-SKY on-board computers and its corresponding mobile app, TX-FLEX. The implementation also incorporates integrated navigation software and the eco module, TX-ECO. With TX-SKY, Transics, a WABCO company and full solution provider for truck, driver, trailer, cargo and subcontractor management, provides a brand-independent fixed mounted on-board computer with touchscreen.
TX-SKY is directly connected to the vehicle’s CAN bus and tachograph and registers truck and driver information as well as data from other sources, including document scanners. As a secured gateway, TX-SKY enables the driver, the dispatcher and any other party involved, such as subcontractors, to exchange information in real time. Via Transics’ online Web service platform, Dixon’s transport management system is integrated with the TX-CONNECT back office software.
Cost savings through automated administration processes
From a financial perspective, Dixon’s choice to use Transics’ fleet management solution was a clear one: “As Transics’ solution enables customized and automated reporting of our drivers’ wages, we will save 4 – 6 hours of back office administration each and every week,” explains Michael Dixon, Managing Director at Dixon. “Thanks to the largely automated processes and the increased efficiency of our fleet, we will see a very rapid pay off in the short term.”
In addition, the company benefits from a faster and improved invoicing process as the mobile app, TX-FLEX, allows dispatchers to take photos of signed documents outside of the cabin. As a result, the documents can be sent directly to the responsible fleet manager in the back office. This also simplifies the documentation of vehicle walk-around checks, which are a legal requirement.
TX-ECO ensures efficiency and high performance across brands
To remain flexible and allow for further expansion of its fleet, a brand-independent fleet management solution was vital for Dixon. Transics’ solutions are not only cross-brand functioning, but can be seamlessly integrated within Dixon’s existing transport management software.
Hein Thijssen, Transics’ Sales Manager for the Netherlands, UK, Ireland and Nordics, says: “The challenge was to guarantee an equal and comparable performance across trucks and drivers, so we also implemented our eco module, TX-ECO. The brand-independent eco program objectively evaluates and stimulates driver performance on economic and ecological driving.”
Michael Dixonadds: “Driving the most efficient trucks helps us remain at the cutting edge of the national and international haulage industry in the UK and in Europe. All in all, the investment was an obvious decision for us.”
