Tele Atlas and Transics will work together on navigation for trucks in high-end fleet management solutions for Europe
Tele Atlas (FSE: TA6, EUNV: TA), a leading global provider of digital maps and dynamic content for navigation and location-based solutions, has signed a three-year contract to provide digital map data for navigation to Transics, a leading European fleet management specialist that develops and commercializes on board computers, software and fleet management solutions for the transport and logistics sector.
The two companies will work closely together at developing Best-in-Class fleet management solutions, by implementing the Tele Atlas European Logistics product. It has a highly motivated team that is developing its mapping database in a structured manner, with high quality and accuracy.”
“We are delighted to join Transics in contributing genuine benefits for this important sector of the navigation market,” says Jack Reinelt, Managing Director of Tele Atlas EMEA. “With the high and rising level of road freight, efficient fleet management is crucial in improving efficiency, increasing safety and reducing congestion. The Tele Atlas team is keen to make a difference in fleet management through the potential of this partnership.”
Tele Atlas map data features the Transics Quattro on board computer. The routing software for this application is being supplied by BeNomad, a Tele Atlas partner based in France.
Transics Quattro on board computer is part of a complete fleet management solution that offers computing, information and communication between driver and dispatcher, including text and alarm messaging next to the automatic registration of various trip data such as driving and resting times, speed, rpm, driving style and positioning of the driver. Transics uses an open technology platform for easy integration with third party peripherals such as the CAN bus, bar code readers and temperature control systems and is interoperable with GPRS the most reliable mobile network data communication service currently available.
