Increasing turnover in core and development markets
Transics shipped 3,750 on board computers in the first quarter of 2008, as compared to 2,382 units in the first quarter of 2007, representing a year-on-year growth of 57%. This brings the total number of Transics on board computers shipped to 50,250 – a new milestone in the company’s history.
Turnover for the quarter amounted to EUR 12,172k, representing a 55% increase on Q1 2007. In its core markets of the Benelux and France, Transics continues to witness vigorous demand: turnover increased by 54%, from EUR 6,768k in Q1 2007 to EUR 10,398k in Q1 2008. In its development markets across Europe, Transics’ revenues grew by 66% from EUR 1,071k in Q1 2007 to EUR 1,774k in Q1 2008. That upward trend is clear proof that the company’s ambitious international expansion programme is beginning to bear fruit. In the quarter just ended, Transics registered its first customer wins in Italy, Turkey and Hungary.
Strengthened management team to support growth
Transics is introducing changes to its sales and business development organisation to reflect the growing importance of its activities outside the Benelux and France and the need to maintain an undivided focus on its core markets. Effective 31 March 2008, the roles of Vice President Sales and Business Development are split. Erwin Heyse will now focus exclusively on Transics’ activities in development countries and new market segments, in the newly created position of Vice President Business Development. Erwin Heyse has been with Transics since October 2005 as Vice President Sales and Marketing. In this function he has overseen the opening of Transics’ operations in numerous countries and has been a major contributor to the growth of the company. Luc Lammens is joining Transics as Vice President of Sales. In this role, he will oversee sales in the core markets of Benelux and France as well as Iberia and Germany and will be responsible for Marketing Communications. Luc Lammens spent over 12 years with Proximus, the mobile telecom arm of the Belgacom Group, as Head of the Corporate Market; he was more recently CEO of Punch Telematix. In addition, since March 1st 2008, Ludwig Lemenu is acting as an advisor to the senior management. He will continue to serve as a Non-Executive Director.
Strong growth dynamics confirmed
“2007 was a record year for Transics. We have maintained our momentum during the first quarter, which confirms the strong growth potential of our business,” said Walter Mastelinck, CEO. “Transics is now looking forward to an equally healthy second quarter, spurred by continuous interest in our high value solutions.
We’re determined to consolidate our market leadership in traditional core markets and secure future growth by expanding our geographical footprint in the rest of Europe. We’re well on our way to meeting our targets for 2008.”
