Carriers who want to keep pace in today’s fiercely competitive, low-margin logistics business, cannot do without an advanced fleet management system. All the more so because also shippers and dispatchers now demand real-time information from their logistics partners. Thanks to Transics’ brand new TX-SMART web application, dispatchers can very easily and quickly exchange text messages and planning information with the drivers of their subcontractors. This smart solution provides the missing link for carriers to transparently integrate occasional subcontractors into their supply chain.
Easy and transparent information sharing
The real-time information exchange is effected via a simple smartphone (e.g. a Blackberry or an iPhone) with web browser and GPS functionality. Thanks to the GPS function the dispatchers can follow up truck positions on the map in TX-CONNECT, Transics’ back office application, and are informed when the truck arrived and left its (un-)loading location. Transport fleet managers no longer have to worry about providing and recovering PDAs, while subcontractors can avoid driving extra miles to pick up and bring back their PDA after completing their mission. The result: an even more transparent logistics chain with real-time route information for all the parties concerned.
