ECO functionality improves driving behaviour and reduces fuel costs
Marcotran Transportes Internacionales, one of Spain’s leading logistics companies, has recently equipped their entire fleet with Transics TX-MAX on-board computers. The choice for Transics was made after a careful selection of different fleet management solutions. The quality of the Transics’ fleet management solutions and innovative functionalities like the TX-ECO system for economical and ecological driving and the mobile document scanner convinced the Spanish carrier that Transics best fits Marcotran’s corporate philosophy of continuous improvement.
Three generations of transport experience, an ardent passion for the business and a continuous quest for innovation have catapulted Marcotran to a leading position in Spain’s transport and logistics market. The carrier, which holds branches throughout Europe, is constantly extending its strategic horizon. The expansion fits well with its philosophy of continuous improvement in quality and customer services. In line with this mission, Marcotran has set up a dedicated programme to investigate new systems and transport lines to further enhance customer services. The switch to a new fleet management system perfectly reflects Marcotran’s commitment to innovation.
Cut communication and fuel costs
Until recently, Marcotran relied on a low-end fleet management solution. However, the system did not fully meet the demands of a forward-looking logistics company like Marcotran. “Especially the lack of functionality to monitor consumption and analyze driving times, convinced us that we needed to replace the existing system,” said Daniel Bailo, IT responsible. After a series of intensive trials with various fleet management systems, Marcotran chose to equip its fleet with Transics’ fleet management solution, including the TX-MAX on-board computers and the TX-CONNECT backoffice software. Daniel Bailo: “The Transics system proved to be the most appropriate to help us reduce communication and fuel costs – two principal objectives for replacing our existing solution by that of Transics.”
Economical and ecological driving
Within a short time of merely two months, the Marcotran fleet was equipped with the TX-MAX on-board computer. Besides the standard functionality, the carrier adopted the TX-ECO solution and the mobile document scanner, TX-DOCSCAN. The Transics mobile document scanner allows drivers to send the delivery notes directly from the trucks to the office, thereby optimizing the invoicing process. A fairly new Transics tool, TX-ECO helps carriers monitor, analyze and improve their staff’s driving behaviour on the long term by comparing trip reports. “Transics provides a real-time insight into lots of parameters like driving and resting times, fuel consumption, driving behaviour, etc. On the basis of this data, we can boost efficiency, save costs and optimize customer services,” Bailo summarized. “Innovation is at the core of Marcotran and Transics is the most innovative fleet management solution on today’s market. We are confident it will perfectly support us in our further growth.”
